Shroomshop Jamaica Retreat 2024

Come and explore the marvellous and mysterious realm of fungi during an enchanting week of mycology in the Jamaican paradise of Treasure Beach.

Everyday new research is revealing the powerful and practical application of fungi and mushrooms as solutions to improve both human and ecological systems. This 6 day retreat in Treasure Beach Jamaica offers you the opportunity to leave behind your worldly distractions. Immerse yourself in the rich depths of the sand, and travel far beyond to discover the origins, history and future of this ancient organism.

This retreat will be led by Darren Le Baron and Sidi Genus and special guests. Darren is well known for his dynamic talks and workshops on the indigenous usage of psychedelics, mushroom cultivation and permaculture. Over the week you will be immersed into all three of these organic technologies, engaging in powerful, and potentially life changing activities that support new ways of learning and self-cultivation.

Through a series of presentations, discussion, workshops and outdoor activities we will explore;

  • Beginners to Advanced Mushroom Cultivation Techniques

  • Functional Adaptogenic Mushrooms and Complementary Herbs

  • Making Your Mushroom Powders, Capsules & Tinctures

  • Mushrooms in Ritual & Ceremony

  • Nature Walks: Mushroom ID & Foraging

  • Local Site Visits + More

This retreat goes far beyond the material realms of ecology and has been designed as a holistic practice for manifesting your dreams, achieving your goals, and being of service through a deep connection to and understanding of life, while building a sustainable relationship with this living and breathing organism we call fungi.

If you have ever witnessed Darren present before, you'll know how energised and passionate he is— it's infectious. He is known for his engaging 3-hour talks and workshops, leaving the audience desiring more by the end. For those who are inspired to have a more in-depth and detailed look into the practices, knowledge, and wisdom Darren has to share, this is an opportunity to work closely with him and learn lots more.

Sidi Genus, is a native of Jamaica, she grew up in a small farming community in the parish of St. Elizabeth. Her love for mushrooms began 8 years ago after her first dose -"a life changing experience that opened my mind to things I once thought were impossible”. This led her to finding her passion for mushroom cultivation and holding space for those who need it. Since then, she has been cultivating mushrooms for her own personal use and for the service of others. Her training as a nurse has given her the skills to build her own mushroom lab and specialise in sterile tissue culturing, spawn production and maintaining a species library. “The things I love most about mushroom cultivation are: the care, love, energy, connection and creative sense it requires and awakens us”.
